A Wish Upon a Wedding Love Story

Meet Beth & Nick, Wish Upon a Wedding's first Chicago-area couple.

This video was shown at the launch party on Wednesday evening and I think we all fell in love with them. And yes - they're as nice in person as they are on film!

I'm really looking forward to being a part of their wedding!

Wedding Registry Ideas for the Eco-Conscious Couple

My friend sent me a link to The Daily Green, described as "the consumer's guide to the green revolution." Today's news included an article titled, "Think Green This Wedding Season: 27 Eco-Chic Gifts for Newlyweds."

There were some really great ideas, including these cool recycled glass pitchers from Branch Home, which I think can definitely double as vase when you're in a pinch. Hey, you never know when someone is going to surprise you with a bunch of flowers!

Along those lines, I really loved th
e recycled newspaper vases available at Target.

Last, but not least, the re
cycled glass dishes by Terrestera are fabulous!

Is it too late for me to sign up for a wedding registry?
I wan
t some of this stuff!

A Bit O' Green for Your Wedding

In honor of St. Patrick's day, I present to you - Green Gowns!

My favorite color is green. So, if I had to do it all over again, would I pick a green dress?

Hmm.... I'm not sure. Maybe.

But, these gowns would make the decision tough. I especially love this first one, with the flowers. I found it at the Dream Wedding blog. Okay, maybe the green flowers are a little much, but I still love it. Maybe pale pink flowers instead?

The dress w
ith white flowers, is also tempting. But, I really like the one with the yellow flower at the waist, too (found at AisleDash).

I guess it's a good thing I don't have to make this kind of decision!

Macaroons, You WIll Never Steal Me Away from my Cupcakes!

So, I was in my kitchen, doing the dishes and listening to NPR. The next thing I know, I'm hearing a
story about macaroons, the cute little French treats that are threatening to steal the spotlight from my darling cupcakes!

I have to admit that they're pretty cute - and they come in delightful colors. These sweets also boast some very intriguing flavors, such as green tea, hibiscus & caramel - just to name a few. They seem to be popping up all over the place, especially since being popularized by the t.v. show, Gossip Girl.

Apparently salon.com claims that macaroons (or, "macarons") are taking over, calling them the heir to the cupcake craze. Could it be true??? These crispy, creamy delights seem to be making appearances at lots of weddings lately. Hmmmm....

Are my cupcakes doomed???

Don't worry, my cupcake darlings, I'm sure it's just a fad.
I promise I won't betray you. Well.... unless, someone happens to give me a green tea macaroon. And then I promise to just sample. Just one tiny, little nibble.

Wish Upon a Wedding!

Recently, I learned about an exciting organization called
Wish Upon a Wedding. This wonderful group, which officially launched in January, 2010, grants wedding wishes to people facing life-threatening illnesses. There are currently chapters in LA, San Francisco, Orlando, New York and Chicago.

How can you help? If you're getting married, you can opt to have your guests donate to Wish Upon a Wedding rather than purchasing gifts from a traditional registry. You can also donate to Wish Upon a Wedding instead of buying wedding favors for your reception. If you choose to do this, you will be provided with donation cards to display at your wedding.

There are other ways to help, too. You can adopt a wedding and donate airline miles.

If you're a wedding vendor, you can volunteer your services to be a Wish Granter. I just applied to become a Wish Granter and I'm so excited!

Please support this worthy cause by spreading the word! Follow this link to use your social networking connections to tell your friends about Wish Upon a Wedding.
