Your Wedding Can Benefit Others (Including Four-Legged Friends)

Many couples use their wedding as an opportunity to benefit others. The newly married Meredith and Michael are no exception. At their wedding last night, they included a Dollar Dance, where guests gave cash to dance with the bride. The money they collected (check out that pitcher of cash!) will be donated to New Leash on Life, a Chicago dog rescue.

Do I have the best couples, or what?

Pets at Weddings

My family loves animals - as our two dogs and two cats will gladly confirm! And if it weren't for the practicality and common sense of my husband, we'd probably have an ever bigger menagerie!

So many of the couples I marry are also huge animal lovers, and look for ways to include their furry kids in their wedding planning. So, I was happy to see this article on the Tails website - 5 Ways to Include Your Pet in Your Wedding.

So, check out the article for some great tips - and check out the Angel Eyes Photography post on Luis & Dan's wedding to see more photos of them with their pooch on their wedding day.

Highlights from Weddings - Eye Candy!

I've been going through photos on my computer and saw that there have been so many wonderful little details from weddings I've officiated. So, I thought I'd share some with you today.

We have Lisa & Ben's cupcake tower, Kate's Converse, Jenny & Evan's bird nest place cards, Jessica's heels, Susan & Tawni's blessing stones.... and their sweet canine ring bearer.

Enjoy!

Lego Wedding

My daughter was playing in her room a while ago and announced that she had created a Lego wedding......
The Celebrant (in the light blue top) officiated the ceremony, as the flower girl (in white, holding greenery in lieu of the more traditional flower bouquet) observed from the background. The Celebrant and the flower girl look suspiciously familiar.

The bride and groom are animal lovers and own several pets - two parrots and two horses - and they all attended the ceremony. The guests included an intimate group of family and friends, who enjoyed the wedding immensely. Especially the horses, who neighed their approval.

Here Comes the..... Dog?

So, are friends calling you crazy for wanting your dog in your wedding? Don't listen! Lots of couples have included pets in weddings, especially dogs. Apparently Jennifer Hudson is planning on having her three dogs, Oscar, Grammy, and Dream Girl, play a role in her ceremony. Even Adam Sandler had his dogs, Meatball and Matzoh, at his wedding.

Hey, if they can do it, so can you! The website Wedaholic has a comprehensive post about pets at weddings you'll want to check out. The article has great advice, such as determining what role is best for your pet - ring bearer? escort? flower dog??

I say anything goes - except maybe waiter. Dogs tend to gobble up the hors d'oeuvres before serving them to the guests. That could be a problem....

So, has anyone else experienced pets at a wedding? And remember, watching Tiger's antics on the first episode of the Brady Bunch doesn't count!
